Before we get to the juicy rumors of the day, let me address the latest Phillip Fulmer news. The former Tennessee coach says he is interested coaching Louisville and Notre Dame. I will borrow a saying from former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy and say that there is less than a zero percent chance that Fulmer gets either of these jobs. Fulmer is interested in both of these schools, but these schools can do better than Fulmer. I am interested in a night alone with Rihanna, but is there any interest on her part? One could only hope…
In more realistic college football rumors, FootballCoachScoop.com has some interesting breaking news on plenty of college football openings. Here are some of the juicy nuggets:
- Florida State coach Bobby Bowden Jimbo Fisher offered the defensive coordinator job to Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart. Smart has ties to Fisher and the Tallahassee area.
- Fisher will also look at Virginia Tech’s Bud Foster. I have a hard time believing this, but Fisher needs to make a splash with this hire.
- Lane Kiffin is interested in Central Florida’s David Kelly, Eastern Michigan’s Tyrone Wheatley and Notre Dame’s Tony Alford to replace Frank Wilson if he leaves for LSU.
- Notre Dame is interested in Wisconsin’s Bret Bielema. This would be a decent hire for the Fighting Irish, but they can do better than Bielema.
If you want more reason to criticize LSU coach Les Miles, you will enjoy this rumor. According to mrsec.com, The Daily Reveille reported that LSU junior defensive lineman Akiem Hicks received money from wide receiver coach D.J. McCarthy. LSU has been looking into possible rules violations and it will be interesting to see if there is anything to this rumor.
