College Football: Weekend Overreactions

- Miami is who we though they were before we thought that they weren’t. The Canes ended Oklahoma’s title hopes with a very solid win at their crib during primetime. Will someone please permanently remove Randy Shannon from the hot seat? The Canes aren’t getting the love that other 1 loss team’s are getting despite playing a MUCH tougher schedule than Ohio State or USC.
- If the Heisman were voted on today it would be a travesty to give it to anyone but Jimmy Clausen. Check the stats. He’s the top passer in the game while his team has played one the toughest schedules in the nation.
- Tennessee just might prove us wrong. Georgia struggles at the point of attack. Tennessee can only win battles at the point of attack. If the Vols had to pass or stop the pass we’d say UGA has a distinct advantage. The Dawgs should still be the favorite, but UT has a shot.
- Houston had the biggest let down in history Saturday. How do you drop two Big 12 South powers, then lose to UTEP? Was Kevin Sumlin at the strip club with Mike Price too late on Friday?
- At least 10 teams in the top 25 could beat number four LSU. Yes the SEC is strong, but it’s more weighted toward the middle of the rankings than at the top. It’s Bama, Florida, and everybody else. The Tigers may not finish in the top half of the SEC West.
- Oregon’s the second best team in the Pac 10. the Ducks have found their grove and seem to have learned not to abandon the spread option, regardless of the number of men in the box. The Ducks are the only team with a chance to knock USC out of the BCS title game. Why? Because…
- Texas will lose to Oklahoma. We’ve just got a gut feeling. They aren’t close to the team that was robbed of a title shot last year.
