So Knotes

Erin_Andrews

So Knotes are Will West’s views on sports from the office window of his South Knoxville abode…you know once you look past the yard sales and road kill carcasses.

  • Erin Andrews is in town. Our girl E.A. is in town working the sideline of tonight’s UT/ South Carolina game. We’ve never had the pleasure, but we hear that she’s even more attractive in person. She would have to hand out free $100 bills for that to be true in our opinion. We also wonder how many more years that she can do this. She has to have earned enough credibility to warrant a studio gig, right?

So who's the next E. A. ? Wendi Nix is the next Hannah Storm (keeps gets hotter the closer she gets to the half-century mark). Our picks: Larra Beth Overton, Heidi Watney, or our girl Heather Harrington

  • Charlie Manuel really trusts his gut. What is he thinking starting Joe Blanton in game 4? This move will either blow up in his face or be spectacularly mediocre. Can’t really see the upside. Short of Blanton throwing a no-no, this one’s a head-scratcher.

  • Oregon and Oklahoma State can really jack up the BCS today. It’s already an outrage that Iowa and Cincy have virtually no shot at playing in the BCS title game. Amazingly, it’s the coaches and Harris polls that are missing it this time, while the computers have the Hawkeyes and Bearcats right behind college football’s Big 3. If one SEC team, Iowa, TCU, Cincy, and Boise State all remain unbeaten, what does the BCS do? They’d probably place the SEC team and Iowa in the title game, but what a beef Cincy would have considering their tougher schedule.

  • Favre’s return to Green Bay has almost been understated. With everything else going on in sports it almost seems as if Sunday’s game has been buried towards the middle on the list of must-see events this weekend. Our belief is that with a season sweep over his former team and a division title, Favre can end the careers of Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson.

  • Mike Slive is a douche bag. The SEC’s new policy against criticism of officials not only includes coaches and administrators, but also ANY employee or support personnel of any league school. That would seem to include announcers. Is Bob Kesling now banned from questioning a call? If Slive wants his league to earn the big bucks and monopolize exposure, then he needs to be able to deal with the scrutiny that comes with it. Be a man Mike and grow a pair.
