Sign of the Apocalypse: Florida Writer Says Tebow Doesn’t Deserve Heisman

tim_tebow

Tim Tebow has been the starting quarterback on the best team in the country all season. Tim Tebow has carried the ball more than expected, because the Florida Gators are lacking playmakers on offense. Percy Harvin and Louis Murphy are playing in the NFL and Tebow is not getting enough help from his wide receivers. The Gators are still ranked No. 1 in the BCS, but Tebow should not be the leader for the Heisman Trophy.

Texas quarterback Colt McCoy has also struggled this season and Sam Bradford is nowhere near the discussion because of his shoulder injury. This opens up the race for the Heisman Trophy and Alabama's Mark Ingram is having the best season of any player in the country. Fans of Notre Dame's Jimmy Clausen and Houston's Case Keenum need to realize that the Alabama running back has rushed for over 140 yards against three straight SEC defenses, including 246 yards against a good South Carolina defense. In a sign that you don't have to be biased to cover the SEC, The Miami Herald's Israel Guiterrez writes that Tebow is not worthy of a second Heisman Trophy. We salute Guiterrez for telling it like it is, instead of carrying Tebow's Superman cape.
