Top 25: The Right, The Wrong, and The Ridiculous

Right: The coaches (or SID’s) couldn’t have gotten it more right at the top. Florida looks like 2008 USC, a team with no holes that may put multiple members of its second team defense into the League. We like the benefit of the doubt that Saban’s getting at Bama. Five may seem like a lofty ranking given the change at QB and the holes to be filled on the OL. More often than not though, Saban fills those holes and keeps the pressure off his QB’s.

Wrong: The non-BCS schools may be receiving a little too much love. We would have a hard time putting Utah ahead of Kansas and Michigan State. The fighting Mangino’s have as solid of a battery as anyone in the game. Michigan State needs to replace Javon Ringer, the most underrated player in football last season. Their front seven is solid and we get the feeling that they’ll find away to pound the rock.

Ridiculous: Not one Big East team in the top 25? The Pac-10 is underrepresented as well. Oregon State would have won the league last year if not for Jaquizz Rodgers injury. Rodgers is back and the Beavers are the last team in? We’re not buying Florida State as the third best team in the ACC either.
