The new “We are the World” video has been released and color us underwhelmed. Chief complaint: no star power. There aren’t more than 4 or 5 artists on the song with the career chops that it took to land on the first one. The biggest names in music aren’t on the record, while two dudes from Good Charlotte, an auto-tune harmony between Lil’ Wayne and T-Pain, Zac Brown, Justin Bieber, and Randy Jackson are.
No Jay-Z, no Beyonce, no Timberlake, no Bono, no real A-listers of any sort = irrelevance in about 8 days. It was a great idea for a great cause, but Lionel Richie really crapped the bed on this one.
