Smoltz Strikes Out Nine in Five Innings

 

Former Atlanta Braves pitcher John Smoltz had a very impressive debut with the St. Louis Cardinals. Smoltz had nine strikeouts through five innings as the Cardinals lead the San Diego Padres 5-2 in the top of the ninth. Boston Red Sox fans are wondering why he couldn't do this in Boston earlier this season. If Smoltz can keep this up, the Cardinals will be a very dangerous team in the playoffs.
