The Washington Nationals might be doing the smart thing by not signing first overall pick Stephen Strasburg this season. Nationals fans might not agree with this, but there is a bigger star next season. Strasburg is supposed to be one of the best young pitchers to enter Major League Baseball in years. Can he hit the ball 500 feet? Bryce Harper, the 16-year old phenom, is planning on taking the GED in October so he can play baseball at a junior college in the spring and be eligible to be the first overall pick of the 2010 MLB Draft. The Nationals will lose some fans if they don't sign Strasburg this season. They can't afford to do this two years in a row and some people think Harper could be the next A-Rod or Casey at the bat. Since they are the Nationals, maybe they will just pass on both and continue being the punchline of baseball. [ESPN] If you are a baseball fan like me that enjoys parody, you will root for the Nationals to sign either Strasburg or Harper. Remember Nationals fans, chicks dig the long ball.
