Schagren Says

Rihanna

Schagren Says: is a collection of random thoughts and predictions from the most random person in Knoxville, TN.

Leno is bringing out the stars for his first show: Rihanna, Jay-Z and Kanye West will perform on the debut of “The Jay Leno Show” on Sept. 14. They will perform “Run This Town” from Jay-Z’s new album Blueprint 3 that hits stores Sept. 11. [People] Blueprint 3 will be album of the year and we can't wait to see our girl Rihanna make a public appearance.

The Boston Red Sox will not win a playoff series: If there was another team up for the wildcard that I trusted, I would predict that the Red Sox will miss the playoffs this season. The reality is that the only other team that has a chance is the Texas Rangers and unless they get help (Alex Rios?), I don’t see that happening. Big Papi and crew have lost six straight games and I don’t see them turning it around.

Turtle goes from Tom Brady hater to Brady fan: Another great episode of Entourage as New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and Entourage producer Mark Wahlberg played golf against the Chase brothers. Brady was a little too corny in this episode, but Drama was hilarious as a buffoon golfer. We give thumbs up to Wahlberg, Jeremy Piven and the return of Sloan for making this episode great. We give thumbs down to Turtle for sucking up to Brady after ripping him earlier in the show. Wahlberg’s best one-liner to Drama: “Easy Ripley, We Believe You.”

Stuart Scott has lost his mind: ESPN anchor Stuart Scott just read a text message from one of his boys on the air. This might be one of the worst attempts at humor in ESPN’s history. Maybe they should bring back the horrible “Who’s Now” segment.

Rain hates NASCAR: Racing at Watkins Glen will start at noon on Monday after being postponed because of rain today. Why do I find myself cheering for Juan Pablo Montoya every week?

Umpires need to lose their egos: A home plate umpire ejected Philadelphia Phillies center fielder Shane Victorino for arguing balls and strikes from center field! If you combine this with the time that an umpire bumped fists with the Florida Marlins after beating the Atlanta braves earlier this summer, you can clearly see that umpires have hidden agendas that are hurting the game.

No John Madden makes for better broadcast: Madden is a legend from coaching, announcing and from his popular video game. Al Michaels, Chris Collinsworth and others talked about how much they will miss Madden this season. Collinsworth and Michael did fine without him and I am glad that Madden knew when to leave before he continued to announce past his prime.
