Hyperbole, thy name is West today!!! Truthfully though, there may have never been a professional league that’s needed a big day the way that NASCAR needs the race at the Brickyard to go off without a hitch. Ratings have plummeted, fans have run in the other direction from races like someone farted, and TNT’s covered the events like they were bass fishing tournaments not V8’s travelling at triple digit speeds. When was the last time that a big Sprint Cup event didn’t have some issue? Don’t worry, I’ll wait. If tomorrow’s race fails to deliver we could see stock car racing go the way of hockey and slamball. The hardcore enthusiasts will stick with the sport, but it will take a lot to get the casual fan to drop $100 and give up 3 hours of their lives to watch again if NASACAR doesn’t respect them enough to have their crap together. Mark Martin, Indy legend Juan Pablo Montoya, and Dale Jr. starting at the front of the field’s a nice start. Now it’s just time to deliver.
