AFC Power Rankings

Pittsburgh Steelers

The AFC will once again be the best conference in the NFL and here is our first edition of the AFC Power Rankings:

  1. Pittsburgh Steelers - The Super Bowl champions will be improved thanks to Limas Sweed and Rashard Mendenhal having bigger roles with the team. Santonio Holmes will be one of the most improved receivers in the NFL.
  2. San Diego Chargers - This team should win six games against the horrible teams in the AFC West and this team is ready to make a Super Bowl run. Philip Rivers will be the best quarterback in the AFC.
  3. New England Patriots - This team could be higher on this list, but the defense of this team should take a step back now that Richard Seymour is gone. Tom Brady will make sure this offense leads this team far in the playoffs.
  4. Baltimore Ravens - Ray Rice is now the starting running back and he will be the main reason that this team will come close to making the Super Bowl. The defense lost Rex Ryan, but remember this team found a way to recover after losing Marvin Lewis.
  5. Indianapolis Colts - Peyton  Manning will love playing with running back Donald Brown and the former Connecticut running back should put up great rookie numbers. Wide receiver Austin Collie is a player to watch on this offense.
  6. Houston Texans - Seriously? This is not a misprint as the Texans have an easy schedule with games against the NFC West, Oakland Raiders, Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals and two games against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Steve Slaton will make the Pro Bowl in his second season.
  7. Tennessee Titans - Kerry Collins will not have the same great season that he had last season and any Titans fan is an idiot that thinks the Titans defense will be good without Albert Haynesworth. Kenny Britt will be good, but Nate Washington is overrated.
  8. Buffalo Bills - North America's Team would have been higher on this list had they not lost their offensive coordinator and starting left tackle the week before they play the New England Patriots. The offense will be improved and this team should reach nine wins.
  9. Cincinnati Bengals - I really wanted to put this team in the playoffs, but this team is a year away from contending. If Carson Palmer can stay healthy, expect this offense to be one of the best in the NFL. Chad Ochocinco and Chris Henry will both have 1,000 yards this season.
  10. Miami Dolphins - Chad Pennington had a great season last year with the Dolphins, but he will have a down year with the Dolphins. Chad Henne and Pat White will see significant snaps near the end of the season. This team needs a big-time receiver.
  11. New York Jets - This team will only be good if Mark Sanchez has a season similar to the one that Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco had last season. The running backs are loaded on this team, but remember that Rex Ryan will find a way to screw this team up.
  12. Jacksonville Jaguars - David Garrard is a very underrated quarterback, but this team has lost too much recently on defense. Maurice Jones-Drew is the man at running back this season and we will see if he can handle it. Torry Holt was a good addition and this team could use more receivers like him
  13. Cleveland Browns - Brady Quinn will get the start early in the season and will we see if he can find a way to convince Braylon Edwards to start wearing stick'em. Eric Mangini is another coach that should not be a head coach in the NFL.
  14. Oakland Raiders - The good news is the Raiders will be the second best team in the AFC West. The bad news is the AFC West is horrible and this still means the Raiders will only have four or five wins. This team should  have stuck with Jeff Garcia.
  15. Kansas City Chiefs - Matt Cassel was handed a fat new contract by the Chiefs and there is a decent chance that he will miss his first game with his new team. Todd Haley was an interesting hire for this team and the Chiefs need Larry Johnson to have a strong season for this team to be good.
  16. Denver Broncos - If this team would have kept Jay Cutler as the starting quarterback, the Broncos would have been close to eight on this list. There is no excuse to get rid of a franchise quarterback and Josh McDaniels has too much of an ego for this team to be good.
