Is Fred Jackson This Year’s DeAngelo Williams?

fred jackson

Of the 5 fantasy football leagues that we were in last year, 4 were won by whoever had DeAngelo Williams. Williams dropped 20 TD’s last season and went from undrafted waiver wire wonder to a first round pick this season.

It wasn’t that Williams scored dramatically more than everyone else (which he did), Williams value was the increase in points that he brought to a team’s second RB or Flex position.

This year Buffalo’s Fred Jackson seems to be filling that void. In a league where we drafted LT, Brian Westbrook, and Randy Moss in the first 3 rounds, we’re undefeated mostly due to Jackson’s ability to make up the points that LT was projected to bring.

Jackson’s the eighth leading scorer in standard scoring leagues and has been even more valuable in PPR leagues. Trent Edwards is going to keep calling this guy's number in the no huddle set, and Jackson's rushing stats should only improve as Lee Evans and T.O. take a larger role in the offense.

  • Maybe, but it will be interesting to see what happens when Marshawn Lynch returns from his suspension. I predict by week 8 they will be splitting the carries pretty evenly barring an injury to either one.
