It is very rare for three NFL teams to lose star linebackers in Week One, but that is exactly what three NFL teams are currently facing. The New England Patriots lost former Vol Jerod Mayo to a knee injury, the Chicago Bears lost Brian Urlacher for the season with a wrist injury and the Buffalo Bills lost Paul Poslusznyto a broken bone in his arm. Mayo's status is uncertain and Posluszny's injury isn't thought to be as serious as his forearm injury that cost him 13 games in his rookie season.
Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Derrick Brooksis unsigned and wanting to play and one of these three teams will sign Brooks. The Bears deny interest in Brooks at this time, but this could change with another embarrassing loss. If Mayo is out for a long time, expect Brooks to sign with the Patriots. Bill Belichick needs more veteran leadership on his defense and Brooks would be a perfect fit.
