Fantasy Draft Nuggets

This weekends a big one for fantasy drafts. Here are a few truths that will help you in your selections.

  • Don’t be afraid to draft jerks: We’ve already had a person ask us if they should drop Brandon Marshall. Most of our friends don’t want Brett Favre near their team. Marshall has the second most receptions in the game over the last two years and is a must start every week. Favre’s as consistent as they get. Players with questionable personalities are usually the best values on draft day.
  • Don’t overpay for your QB’s: There’s no reason to waste a first rounder on Peyton Manning when you can pick up Tony Romo (a top 10 scorer last year) in the sixth round or David Garrard in the eighth round (a top 10 QB last season). use your first 4 picks more wisely.
  • Peyton Manning shouldn’t be one of the top 3 QB’s off of the board. Let you moron coworker draft Peyton in the first. Drew Brees and Aaron Rogers might be the top 2 scorers in the game, much less their position. Tom Brady’s got more around him than Peyton does as well
  • Don’t be afraid to draft a player from a bad team. We used to clean house by drafting Lions players when Mike Martz was the OC. Bad teams usually play from behind which can mean big points for QB’s and WR’s.
  • Rookie WR’s rarely perform. Stay away from Crabtree  and DHB. DeSean Jackson was the exception, not the rule. Even Megatron was no better than a third option in his first year. There is no rookie WR worthy of a starting spot in your line up week 1.
