The shoulder is better, Doc Andrews has signed off and Favre is back. Now what? A lot of people are penciling the Vikes into the Super Bowl before Brett even takes a snap. Here’s the way that we see Favre’s signing affecting the NFC North:
- Minnesota: They don’t need Favre to be the 35 attempt per game gunslinger that he was in Green bay. A nice solid 20 attempts per and the Vikes can keep 8 men out of the box. Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor have to be salivating at the thought of those 7 man fronts that they’ll be seeing. Favre has always picked apart teams that were dumb enough to put 8 in the box against him as well.
- Green Bay: They’re scared, very scared. The fan base and players may not be shaking in their boots, but you can bet your backside that Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson are worried. Weeks 4 and 8 are the two biggest days of their professional careers. Favre may not lead his new team to the Super Bowl, but he can end the careers of the two men that forced him out.
- Chicago: The Bears are no longer the team making headlines in the division and that might be a good thing given Jay Cutler’s mouth. Favre’s return allows Chicago to work under the radar to improve their defense and develop their receivers.
- Detroit: Irrelevant.
