NFL Recap – Things We Learned Today Part One

Jake Delhomme

  • The Carolina Panthers are idiots: They signed quarterback Jake Delhomme to an extension in the off season that will keep him in Carolina through 2014. Delhomme proved he is worth the money by throwing four interceptions in the Panther's 38-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
  • The Philaphia Eagles defense would make Jim Johnson proud: The former Eagles' defensive coordinator died of cancer in the off season and the Eagles showed their love for Johnson with five interceptions and five sacks in the win.
  • Miami Dolphins are headed for a disappointing season: The Dolphins only scored seven points in the 19-7 loss to the Atlanta Falcons and they only had 96 yards rushing. Chad Pennington will get benched at some point this season.
  • Brandon Stokley is one lucky man: Stokley had one of the luckiest touchdown catches in NFL history with a game-winning 87-yard touchdown catch against the Cincinnati Bengals. The ball was tipped by cornerback Leon Hall and Stokley caught the deflection and ran for a touchdown. This will be one of the plays of the year.
  • Mark Sanchez Looks impressive: The New York Jets' rookie quarterback threw for 272 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Jets' 24-7 win over the Houston Texans. If Sanchez can keep this up all season, the Jets might find a way to sneak into the playoffs.
