Breaking News: Tennessee Hires Cutcliffe

Tennessee is  replacing Lane Kiffin with a Tennessee guy. WBIR is reporting that former Tennessee offensive coordinator and current Duke head football coach David Cutcliffe is replacing Kififn in Knoxville. It will be interesting to see how Mike Hamilton and Cutcliffe get along, considering how Hamilton fired Phillip Fulmer. Cutcliffe will bring some of his Duke coaches with him and Kippy Brown is expected to remain on Tennessee's staff. There is a good chance that Georgia's Rodney Garner is hired in some role on Tennessee's staff. This will please the Tennessee fans that were angry that Kiffin never embraced the Tennessee traditions. Cutcliffe is a man of high integrity and it is safe to assume that Cutcliffe will not leave Tennessee for another job. This is Cutcliffe's "dream" job and he bleeds orange.

One of the many questions I have for Hamilton is: "Is this really your only option?" I know that Will Muschamp and Troy Calhoun turned down the job, but Hamilton could have done better than Cucliffe. Conneticut's Randy Edsall would have said "yes" to Hamilton if he was offered the job. Hamilton should have took his time with this hire and gone after better coaches than Cutcliffe. He is a very good man, but I would have big time concerns about his heart issues. Tennessee fans should hope this report is inaccurate and we will be bringing you more information as this story develops.
